To travel is to live-Hans Christian Andersen put it as simply as his tales, but in it lies the truth. Of course, the aim is to see the whole wide world but often that’s easier said than done. In that case let’s settle for a bucket list. Here’s me trying to share my bucket list with you. No not the entire list but I have picked up a few gems, my 5 Bucket list destinations, from an ever-increasing bucket list of travel destinations.

Here’s a list of places you must visit before you kick the bucket! Traveling and seeing the world is something very special and more so if you bring your family or loved ones along for the ride! You will create innumerable magic moments and memories to last a lifetime. There is a fair chance not all will be to your liking but be assured when you look back you will relish all that you have gone through.

The beauty of modern travel is that it is way more affordable and you can pretty much visit any part of the world with a bit of on time planning and smart thinking . And this means that you can spread your net far and wide when it comes to bucket list ideas – here are the five for you to consider.

1. Okavango Delta, Botswana

The Okavango Delta is perhaps the most impressive area of Botswana and the perfect place for indulging on a genuine African safari. This is the ultimate destination for spotting incredibly varied wildlife and natural beauty, and you might also consider heading to Chobe National Park while you’re at it. It’s a small country, but an impressive one and the best time to visit is between May and August. Botswana has more to offer than you might imagine, and it’s one of the best summer destinations that will leave you spoilt for choice

2. Lapland, Finland

There are certain experiences you may only get the chance to have once in your life, and the Northern Lights definitely falls into this category. As family-friendly trips go, this ranks among the best because there is so much beauty on display, and you can all experience this unique natural wonder together.

Finnish Lapland is the perfect location for seeing the Northern Lights, and this snow-based, delightful family experience is one you need to make the most of it right now. You can even take a reindeer sleigh ride to see Father Christmas… What could be better than that?!

3. Rome, Italy

If you want to give the family a much-needed history lesson and see the glory of the Roman empire , the ancient city of Rome is the place to go. Italy has many amazing cities to choose from, but it’s clear that Rome ranks at the top. There is a plethora of amazing architecture here and the absolute must sees are; The Colosseum, Pantheon, Gladiator School, Saint Peter’s Basilica, Spanish Steps,Roman Forum and the museums of Vatican. But not to forget the many excellent restaurants, wineries, cappuccino haunts without which the trip is incomplete. Rome is grand, its beautiful it’s the cradle of history and civilization and definitely one of the most magical cities in the world. It has something for everyone. Merely walking around the city and staring at it’s skyline is a lesson in history.

4. Arizona, United States

There are loads of amazing destinations in the United States, but Arizona is one of the most impressive. The biggest draw here is, the Grand Canyon, and you can enjoy a great family outing across one of America’s grand landmarks. If you are planning a Grand Canyon trip with kids there is a lot you need to know before you go, and plenty that will appeal to them. Did you know, you can also bungee jump at the Grand Canyon ? If your family is the adventurous type, of course!

5. Cairo, Egypt

Cairo is a wonderful destination for a family adventure and home to the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Great Pyramid of Giza. There is so much that makes Cairo a Bucket List city, the bazaars the people, the food and every street steeped in history. But the Giza pyramids is one of the highest points. This is a 4,500-year-old feat of engineering, architecture, and masonry that in many ways is an architectural wonder and boggles the mind how in could it have been brought to existence in the ancient world. Though there are main theories to explain how it came into existence, it still remains a mystery of engineering. Cairo is a treat and a must see in one’s lifetime.

These 5 destinations chosen are spread across continents, and diverse in nature. They have something to offer for all tastes. There is adventure and romance there is thrill and passion enough to make every moment memorable.

So get off the couch and start planning your next trip. Remember it’s good to start planning early to get the best deals and expert advice always helps. Ask friends and colleagues for tips and tricks or engage with a travel agent who understands your travel lust. Good planning and the right itinerary makes the perfect trip. Oh yes remember to go off the beaten track that’s where the fun is
